This project, commissioned in 2021, was inspired by the architecture of the 1950s and 1960s, as well as a variant of the International Style that emerged during that period, especially in Latin America, and particularly in Havana, Cuba, the birthplace of architect Marcos Trueba.

Although the apartment originally had a petite bourgeois style, very common in Madrid’s Salamanca district, the proposal drew on the modernity of the 1950s and 1960s. Materials such as wood and metal were used to provide both freshness and seriousness to the new design.

The entrance is defined by a volume reaching the ceiling, interrupting the visitor’s gaze as if it were a wall of Macassar ebony. At the center of this space, a lamp illuminates a set of circular plaster casts, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of James Turrell’s most iconic works.
