This project was commissioned by a client to completely renovate a 350 m² house in Somosaguas, Pozuelo. The house, which was in very poor condition, was part of one of the first developments in the area. Its solid reinforced concrete structure allowed for open spaces and a complete reconfiguration of the layout.

The intervention retained only the structure, incorporating an extension through an adjoining volume that connects the interior with the exterior via a covered terrace. The ground floor brings together kitchen, living room, dining room, and terrace; the basement includes a playroom, laundry room, and service bedrooms; while the two upper floors house five bedrooms with their respective bathrooms, as well as a shared attic space.

The aim was to create a modern, simple, and unpretentious house, close to the idea of a country house in the city. The inspiration combines the austerity of American architecture with the sophistication of European furniture from the 1960s and 1970s.

Materiality reinforces this character: ebonized oak for carpentry and paneling, ceramic floors with limestone finish, bathrooms in jade green marble, and furniture that adds texture and color through designer pieces and brass details. The interiors were resolved with a neutral color palette, contrasts in black and white, and accents in leather and dark wood.

The living room and main areas maintain a sober character with midcentury hints, integrating European and American pieces from the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. The entire project was designed to create open, expansive spaces visually connected to the outdoors.
