Tumbao Studio is an indoor cycling project located in the center of Madrid that explores the relationship between sport, design, and well-being through a sensory spatial experience. Conceived as an immersive environment, the space brings together light, movement, and materiality, combining contemporary precision with bodily energy.
The venue is organized over two levels: an upper, socially oriented floor housing the reception area, a specialty coffee bar, restrooms, and lockers; and a lower level that contains the main spinning studio, the core of the project.
The spatial sequence is articulated through a transitional vestibule featuring a centrally placed circular element that references the cyclical motion of pedaling. Metallic surfaces and stainless steel introduce a sense of dynamism, while the green handcrafted ceramic–clad columns, designed specifically for the project, add rhythm and material depth.
A sprayed rock wool ceiling enhances acoustic performance and emphasizes texture, contrasting with the continuous microcement flooring and projected natural aggregate surfaces. In the spinning studio, variable lighting becomes an active design element, shaping the atmosphere and accompanying the intensity of each session, reinforcing the project’s immersive and sensory character.
